Lecturer in Pure Mathematics, University of Leeds – Mathematics & Physical Sciences.

Full time (part time hours will be considered)

The School of Mathematics is an internationally leading centre for research in areas of Pure Mathematics including algebra, analysis, geometry and logic (see for example http://www.maths.leeds.ac.uk/research/pure-mathematics.html).

We have a strategy of supporting leading research across these areas as well as embracing the development of links between them.

We seek to strengthen our research activity by appointing to a Lectureship an individual with an outstanding research record working in one or more of these areas, or in a compatible area offering scope for strategic enhancement and development.

You must have a PhD or other doctorate in a relevant discipline and a proven track record of research. You must have publication outputs which meet standards of academic excellence equivalent to the REF assessment grade of 3* and 4* (internationally excellent, or world-leading, in terms of originality, significance and rigour).

You should have recent experience of teaching undergraduate and/or postgraduate students and the development of teaching materials, with a willingness and ability to teach effectively at all levels and an enthusiastic approach to all aspects of research-led teaching, including specialist modules and project supervision.

Applications from women, who are currently under-represented in this area, will be particularly welcome; however, the final recruitment decision will be based solely on merit.

Informal enquiries may be made to Prof Paul Martin, tel +44 (0)113 343 7787, email p.p.martin@leeds.ac.uk
