OFFICE OF THE VICE DEAN OF STUDENTS

Since October 2024, I am the Vice Dean of Students at the School of Mathematical Sciences of the Complutense University of Madrid. The Office of the Vice Dean of Students works with the Dean’s Office and other academic units in order to support student life and organization. The Student Affairs Office (Secretaria de Estudiantes) handles most of the day-to-day operations concerning student assistance. About two thousand students are enrolled in 2024-2025 in one of the majors or double majors offered at our school. The school also offers several Master degrees and two PhD programs, with over a hundred students enrolled.

In addition to my administrative duties as Vice Dean, which include membership in the school’s executive committee (Consejo de Facultad), I have a public agenda which includes speaking at certain institutional events, as Vice Dean of Students or in representation of the Dean.   • May 8, 2025: Delivering speech at the Doors Open Day/Open House (Jornada de Puertas Abiertas), mainly directed towards potential students who are now in their last year of high school, organized by the School of Mathematical Sciences, Miguel de Guzman Classroom. Video
  • April 25, 2025: Delivering speech and presenting awards at the second School of Mathematical Sciences Foosball Competition (Segundo Torneo de Futbolín), organized by the UCM Mathematics Sport Club (Club Deportivo de Matemáticas), Azul Classsroom. The photo below, with the two teams who won the competition, was posted on the front page of the website of the School of Mathematical Sciences after the event.
  • April 25, 2025: Delivering speech at the Information Session for Elective Courses (Jornada de Optativas) for juniors and senior years – years 3  and 4 – offered by the School of Mathematical Sciences (more than 50 courses in the three main majors: Mathematics, Mathematicas and Data Science, and Mathematical Engineering), Miguel de Guzman Classroom.   • April 24, 2025: Delivering opening speech and introducing guest speakers at the School of Mathematical Sciences Job Fair, day 5, Rey Pastor Auditorium of the School of Mathematical Sciences. The companies/institutions invited to give presentations were Banco de España and the company Decide. Video
  • April 9, 2025: Delivering speech and presenting awards at the Second Complutense University Integration Bee (Segundo Concurso Complutense de Integración Rápida) organized by the Student Organization Proyecto Cometas and the Institute for Interdisciplinary Mathematics IMI, Miguel de Guzman Classroom. The photo below, with finalists and winners of the competition, was posted on the front page of the website of the School of Mathematical Sciences after the event.
  • March 26, 2025: Delivering opening speech, in representation of the Dean, at the monthly History of Mathematics Seminar (Seminario de Historia Mariano Martínez), Miguel de Guzman Classroom. This is a distinguished regular event of the School of Mathematical Sciences, which has been running for several decades.   • March 20, 2025: Delivering opening speech and introducing guest speakers at the School of Mathematical Sciences Job Fair, day 4, Rey Pastor Auditorium of the School of Mathematical Sciences. The companies invited to give presentations were Accenture and Oliver Wyman and, in addition, we invited José Jaume Pons as a former high executive or advisor of several transportations companies.
